WHAT IS BREATHE?
Breathe is an air purification system that works with UVC rays and is certified to destroy bacteria, mould, pollen and viruses (including Covid-19). It is beautifully designed and has even won a design award. It works quietly and can be ceiling- or wall-mounted or used standing.
HOW DOES BREATHE WORK EXACTLY?
Breathe an air disinfection device. The room air is sucked in, passed through the housing to a UVC radiation source and released back into the room on the opposite side. The air in the device body is disinfected by the strong UVC radiation. Bacteria, viruses, molds and other organic compounds are 96% deactivated in the first run and lose their health-impairing effect. Overall, a disinfection rate of up to 99.9% is achieved with continuous operation.
WHAT ARE UVC RAYS?
UVC radiation is the highest energy portion of the UV radiation spectrum. UVC radiation from the sun does not reach the earth's surface because it is blocked by the ozone layer in the atmosphere. Thus, the only way that humans can be exposed to UVC radiation is from an artificial source like a lamp or laser.
HOW DOES UVC DISINFECTION WORK?
As evident by multiple research studies and reports, when biological organisms are exposed to deep UV light in the range of 200 nm to 300 nm it is absorbed by DNA, RNA, and proteins. Absorption by proteins can lead to rupture of cell walls and death of the organism.
Absorption by DNA or RNA is known to cause inactivation of the DNA or RNA double helix strands through the formation of thymine dimers.
If enough of these dimers are created in DNA, the DNA replication process is disrupted, and the cell cannot replicate.

DOES BREATHE REQUIRE MAINTENANCE?
Breathe requires no maintenance. Once installed it is self-cleaning and requires no filter changes, as it works with UVC rays. The UVC light source needs to be replaced every 9.000 hours, which means that Breathe can run maintenance free for 3-4 years. We offer replacement UVC light sources in our range. We do recommend having this part changed by a certified electrician.

HOW LOUD IS BREATHE?
Breathe is one of the quietest air purifiers on the market. It works at 25 dB which sounds like a whisper or rustling leaves.
IS IT SAFE TO USE?
Yes. The design of the Breathe devices ensures that no harmful UVC radiation escapes from the device. Since no chemicals are used, the devices do not emit any substances that are harmful.
WILL I BE ABLE TO USE BREATHE AFTER THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC?
Yes, clean air is beneficial whenever several people from different households meet. The common cold season in autumn, flu viruses, noroviruses and other aerosol / airborne diseases can be combated by using Breathe. We recommend permanent use in offices, business premises, classrooms and waiting rooms.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DISINFECT A ROOM?
Breathe can clean 130 m³ of room air within an hour. The effect of Breathe starts immediately and the air is constantly cleaned. Our devices are designed for continuous use.
WHAT ARE THE FOLLOW UP COSTS?
The operating and follow-up costs are extremely low. The power consumption of the unit is around 36 W. By dispensing with chemicals, filters etc. the UVC lamp is the only consumable part.
WHERE AND HOW DO I MOUNT BREATHE?
Ideally, Breathe is suspended from the ceiling in the middle of the room, mounted just above head height. We supply a rope suspension for this. Installation directly on the ceiling or on the wall is also possible. In order to optimally clean the room air, we recommend horizontal installation.
I DON’T HAVE THE OPTION TO MOUNT BREATHE OR WOULD LIKE TO USE THE SAME UNIT IN SEVERAL PLACES.
No problem! Breathe works with an easy plug & go design. You simply plug it in, switch it on and it starts working immediately. We supply two stainless steel feet for the unit in our Shop which make it easy to stand it on any desk, table, sideboard or similar surface.
HAS BREATHE BEEN TESTED?
Your health is of utmost important to us. That is why Breathe has been tested and certified by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) - the research university of the Helmholtz Association, for photobiological safety and effectiveness.
Breathe has been classified in the safety group 2, which allows operation in the presence of humans and animals.
It is certified to destroy 96% for bacteria, yeast and viruses (including Covid-19) and at least 92% of moulds with each pass through the machine (133 m³/h). Overall, a disinfection rate of up to 99.9% is achieved with continuous operation.
